ORLAND PARK, IL — An Oak Forest man has been charged with commercial burglary after police said he stole a register that contained $2,500 from an Orland Park restaurant on Aug. 11.
According to police, around 9 p.m., Ronnak Niazi, 35, forced open the rear doors of Southfork restaurant, located at 14631 S. Lagrange Road. The restaurant was closed at the time, and police said Niazi grabbed two cash registers that contained $2,500 before heading out the back door.
Police said an investigation led them to Niazi, who at the time of the burglary was working at the Burger King just next door. He was arrested in Oak Lawn Wednesday and transported to Orland Park Police headquarters, where he was later charged, according to police.
Niazi is scheduled to appear at the Bridgeview Court House for a bond hearing Thursday afternoon.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
