CONCORD, NH — Concord's biggest annual downtown festival is underway … although it is off to a slow, soggy start. On Thursday, rain poured down on the festival early but the showers stopped in the late morning and early afternoon — only to return by late afternoon and evening, putting a damper on things. At least one major musical act canceled, the Freese Brothers, due to the large number of musicians who perform in the band, while other artists moved indoors, according to Jessica Martin, the executive director of Intown Concord. "So far," she said, despite the rain, "things are going great." A number of vendors were scared away by the storms but Martin expects them to be set up for business on Friday and Saturday. Weather on Friday is expected to be mostly cloudy in Concord with highs in the lower 80s while on Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms in the late afternoon or early evening. There are dozens of musical acts, activities for families and children, a beer tent, and much more, Martin said. A full slate of events, vendors, sponsors, and a schedule of activities for the festival can be found at the Market Days Festival website, linked here. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
