Description
NORRISTOWN, PA — Several thousand more dollars are now available for Norristown residents seeking mortgage relief due to COVID hardship.
That's thanks to a new amendment passed by the Norristown Municipal Council during Tuesday evening's meeting, which approved in change in how the town's federal relief funds were allocated.
Homeowners can now apply for up to $7,000 in relief. The previous maximum original value was $3,700.
Homeowners can also use the funding for utility relief.
To be eligible, the council's ordinance states that relief can be granted if residents suffered during the pandemic due to circumstances "such as lay-offs, furloughs, or reduced work hours."
The money comes from the Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG CV-3) at the federal level.
