Heavy Equipment Mechanic Description Weyerhaeuser’s Snow Peak Timberlands operation based out of Lebanon, Oregon has an opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. We are seeking individuals who desire to work safely in a market-focused logging environment. This is a full-time hourly position. Hourly employees at this operation are represented by the IAM-AW Union. Benefits (in accordance with the current Labor Agreement) include medical, dental, vision, 401k plans, vacation, and holidays. Rate of pay is variable from $27.95/hr to $33.53/hr based on skills and experience. This position currently works 40+ hours per week on day shift. Key Functions: • Efficiently and effectively perform diagnostic, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance work on logging and construction equipment, as well as other rolling stock (e.g., dump trucks, log stackers, processors, crew transportation vehicles, fire equipment, etc.) both in the shop and in the field • Effectively interface with operators to quickly detect, diagnose/trouble shoot and repair equipment failures on a variety of makes and models of logging/construction equipment • Maximize equipment uptime by pre-ordering parts, schedule maintenance to minimize production impacts per machine and total system coordinating with lead person & supervisor, track/capture warranty issues, communicate well with a variety of vendors via phone/email • Implement and continually improve Preventative Maintenance Program for individual machines (includes shop truck) • Dialog with and training of operators to identify and prevent potential problems (e.g., track and schedule servicing, change major wear items on established lives per machine/operator, use PMP records to assist in forecasting next year maintenance costs, etc.) Qualifications • Minimum 5 years related experience and high school diploma or GED • Possess Class B CDL • Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing older and new logging equipment, including hydraulic and electronic systems • Ability to weld and fabricate material on equipment • Familiar with logging, road building, log processing equipment, log yards, and trucks • Be safety conscious and self-motivated • Able to work well with people with excellent communication skills • Possess organizational skills and ability to prioritize work. • Computer experience and leadership skills would be helpful • Successful completion of post-offer employment physical, drug screen, background check About Timberlands We believe trees are a remarkable resource that can and should be managed responsibly to make a range of products that meet human needs, while also providing recreation, wildlife habitat, and other important ecosystem benefits.
