Description

My name is Michael. I am a 54 Y/O Transplant from RI to Southern NH (Bedford / Goffstown line. (4 years now) I am a multi-Instrumentalist whose area of focus right now is Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar with some dabbling with Mandolin, 15 string Lute and Electric Hollow body Synth. Guitar. I sing, compose pieces both instrumental and with lyrics that I write. I know that the title of my post can be a little vague, please let me elaborate. I am not a classically trained musician, nor can I sight read. I am, however, a hardworking and accomplished player. I have a huge backlog of material that is both complete and awaiting collaboration. I have been told that my material is to be considered Acoustic Prog Rock. So, we can think of Yes, Tull, early Genesis and the like. That being true, that classification is a little heavier than what I am thinking these days, and please note I do not claim any of the virtuosity any of the above players have, they are my influences, and it is how I lean, also other than a few solos here and there, I am not wanting to play Electric guitar …. Just Acoustic and Synth Guitar. My interest for this project is Light Classical, Light Jazz, Celtic, Folk, World, Psychedelic / Meditative and New Age. No Heavy Rock, or Blues or Funk, this will be sit and listen to music. There is a place for this type of an act, and it will not be local sports bars at 1:00AM. Not that there is anything wrong with that, guys and ladies that do that have a very rewarding time I’m sure, it’s just that part of my life is over. Yes, this will be a specialized type of original band, I am very open to other’s music and input into my own as well. I also have an interest in doing some covers in an interesting way. Vocals here are going to be an important first step. Preferably it will be a female, but it does not have to be. Instruments I would be interested in would be Double Bass, big and cumbersome I know …. Maybe electric Fretless. Another guitarist would be nice. We would not be playing the same thing of course. Now, I do travel a little heavy, meaning I take a lot of instruments with me. I use a lot of different tunings. Violin would be welcome, and I of course am open to any other strings. Winds would be Flute, Clarinet, Piccolo or Soprillo Sax. So, although I love Acoustic Percussion, someone with a good electric kit would be pretty good, they are very versatile and easy to mic. Keys would be welcome, if you play accordion as well …. Cool! To be noted I would not be considering this to be my project, but ours …. I could go in many directions given the people I am playing with. What I am hoping for is something like Sting’s A Winter’s night …. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfViC0fThiU )a smaller scale of course. I have played with classically trained people in the past and have been told that my music although complex is very accessible …. But you are going to need to play. I do have a small place to play …. If it gets over a few of us we will need to relocate … I do have a plan for that as well. I have lots of good gear, lots of material, a good attitude, and ready to put the time in ….. I can travel an hour north or south. I am also a visual artist and they kind of walk hand in hand. I have just released a professional 4 song video that I can send a link to anyone who is interested. I also have lots of audio that you can check out. Any and all are welcome, remember…. talent can always be developed …attitude cannot. I will take humility and dedication over attitude and virtuosity. First, we make one note sound good … then two …. Then a song …. And off we go … if interested please get in touch … let’s not be shy. Just a 5-minute conversation will be a yay or nay …. Either way we tried and may be enriched from it. Goal’s really to put an act together and record, play out when showcases are available, get a manager and see if when can get some Film or TV work. I know this is awfully wishful thinking but it’s not going to happen unless I try. My gut tells me that both classically trained players would like this as a fun project that would not be too taxing while soloists would like this because there is lots of room for improvisation. Drop me a line, a five word response is not going to get me motivated, take some time and tell me about yourself. I took a week to draft this. If you're just mildly interested, ask for material and never get back to me.... don't bother.... you'll just hurt my feelings, and if you have read this far I know that's not the type of person you are or want to be. Who knows we may work together the rest of our lives.... or just a brief moment.... I don't really think it's up to us to decide. I have been fully vaccinated, your status is completely up to you, I don't mind either way. I also have no problem working remotely, I tend to rehearse a lot. So if if there are scheduling problems, maybe working on line can be a good solution to that. Peace
