Description
Join us for Bryon's Run/Walk/Roll to Cure Paralysis on October 3. We would love to see you out there helping to find a cure for paralysis. For the past 19 years, in collaboration with community partners in Waukesha County and southeastern Wisconsin, Carroll University’s Health Sciences students, faculty and staff have provided wellness activities across the lifespan for individuals experiencing chronic disease and disability. Bryon Riesch as well as many other individuals have directly benefited from the university’s students, faculty and staff. Consequently, the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation (BRPF) has formed a partnership with Carroll University. This run/walk/roll is a combined effort with Carroll University, Carroll University’s Recreational Department and the BRPF to raise both money and awareness for individuals with paralysis. A devastating accident left Bryon paralyzed from the chest down, with limited use of his arms. In order to assist Bryon and his family through a difficult time, friends and family quickly pulled together to help with a fundraiser. Those same friends and family have now helped to form the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation (BRPF) to help others faced with a similar situation. Established in January of 2001, the BRPF is a 501(c)3 that has utilized the tremendous support and community reaction that was demonstrated after Bryon’s injury. Since then, through donations and fundraisers over $4,000,000 has been raised to go directly towards the fight against paralysis.
