Transforming Our Community Summit: From Trauma to Resilience September 23, 2021 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Track The Basics of Trauma, ACEs, Resilience and Using a Trauma-Informed Approach Trauma is a widespread, harmful and costly public health problem. It occurs as a result of violence, abuse, neglect, loss, disaster, war and other emotionally harmful experiences. Individuals with experiences of trauma are found in multiple service sectors, not just in behavioral health services alone. Becky Haas, an international expert on building trauma-informed communities, will help professionals understand trauma, how to identify trauma, how trauma derails brain development and to understand the significance of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study. Participants will learn ways to build resilience and implement a trauma-informed approach to strengthen their communities. Additional Optional Session September 24, 2021 9:00 am - 2:00 pm (lunch included) Train the Trainer Professionals and community members will be trained on how to deliver the material (above) to their communities to encourage a trauma-informed approach throughout the different sectors of society. *Participants MUST attend the Thursday afternoon session in order to be eligible to attend the Friday session.
