PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — An extra concert at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will help New York City celebrate Homecoming Week, the organization announced. The music conservatory will host a kids edition on Thursday of their "Midsummer Nights" concerts, which have graced the stage of their Seventh Avenue stoop throughout the summer. This week's show will be part of NYC Homecoming Week, a citywide cultural celebration from Aug. 14 to 22 marking New York City's resilience through the coronavirus pandemic. The show will feature vocalist Melvis Santa, who will perform music aimed at helping kids and adults explore the joys of music. The stoop series is the latest event in the conservatory's effort to provide paid performance opportunities for local professional musicians. Since the pandemic, BKCM has helped create more than 350 paid gigs for area musicians, according to the organization.
