NEW YORK CITY — Three of four New York City adults have rolled up their sleeve at least once for the coronavirus vaccine. "Today for the first time, 75 percent of all adults in New York City have received at least one dose of the vaccine," Ted Long, the city's Test & Trace head, said Wednesday. "It's obviously the highest number we've reached, but we just reached that number today, showing that we're already seeing an uptick in terms of the overall numbers across New York City." The milestone puts New York City's adult partial vaccination rate past the national average of 72.2 percent, according to the CDC. City officials have significantly amped up efforts to boost vaccinations as the highly contagious delta variant spreads. The efforts hit a peak this week as a proof of vaccination requirement for indoor activities such as dining, entertainment and working out kicked off Tuesday. Last week, officials saw 100,000 people come out for vaccinations. Long said there are preliminary signs more New Yorkers are getting vaccinated. "Anecdotally, we're definitely seeing people coming out in droves, whether it's our mobile units at restaurants, whether it's our at home vax program, or other locations now," he said.
