Description
NEW HAVEN, CT — Thursday morning, Avelo Airlines will announce multiple new destinations for direct, nonstop service out of Tweed New Haven Airport with flights set to begin this fall, Tweed Executive Director Sean Scanlon said.
Earlier this year, officials from the airport and Avports announced an $100 million expansion project that they said would bring 11,000 jobs and $47 million in tax revenue at no cost for taxpayers.
Wednesday, Scanlon said the project will "move the airport forward to the benefit of flyers, taxpayers, and the local economy."
He said the project will "result in the creation of a new, carbon neutral terminal, allow for more flights to more destinations, and eliminate the need for all existing state and city subsidies."
Scanlon will be joined Thursday morning, for the announcement of the new destinations, by Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy, Avports CEO Jorge Roberts, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Congressman Richard Blumenthal.
Big news: Super excited to be joining @AveloAir tomorrow morning to announce the largest service expansion at @FlyTweed in over 30+ years! Stay tuned— Sean Scanlon (@SeanScanlonCT) August 18, 2021 Patch will report on those destinations Thursday.
