Description

Create your very own work of art featuring real, pressed flowers and gorgeous hand-made paper If you love looking at nature and being creative, the Pressed Flower Sun Print workshop is for you! What is a Sun Print? A Sun Print is a type of photographic print created using the power of sunlight and water to make beautiful, ethereal, one-of-a-kind works of art. You can use all kinds of things to design your Sun Print, and for this workshop, we'll be focusing on pressed flowers. The best part? You don't need any creative skills or experience to do this project. It always turns out beautiful no matter what you do, and if you get stuck, you'll have the guidance of a professional photographer with over a decade of experience to help you through. At the end of the Pressed Flower Sun Prints workshop, you'll have a stunning piece of art printed on gorgeous, hand-made paper to put in a special place or give to a loved one. And as a bonus, you keep any of the pressed flowers you don't use! What to ExpectThe Sun Printing process is an extremely satisfying process. It starts by picking out your decorations and laying them out in a general design. Then you'll receive an 8x10 sheet of handmade paper, precoated with light sensitive chemistry. Once you receive your paper, you'll transfer your design onto the light-sensitive paper and set it in the sun for roughly 20 minutes. Olivia Phare Studio is part of Hive on 16th, an artist collective in Phoenix. While you wait for your print to sit in the sun, you will be able to enjoy drinks and snacks from Window Coffee Bar while perusing the other artist studios at Hive on 16th including: Composite Boutique, Collaged Escape, Mer Made Jewelry, Howland Studios Gallery, TYDY Spaces, Desert Rat, Tattoo Paulski, Not a Myth, Mystic Arts Apothecary, DK Living Walls, AZUL Ceramics, and The Bees Knees. After 20 minutes, we'll wash the print in water and let it soak to remove any remaining chemistry. This soaking process will transform your light-blue print into a rich, deep shade of blue. After soaking, we'll hang the prints to dry for about 15 minutes while you finish browsing the shops and enjoying the outdoor space. Once your print is dry, you can take it home, a one-of-a-kind work of art using luxury, handmade paper and real pressed flowers, About your Instructor Olivia is a professionally trained fine-art photographer and owner of Olivia Phare Studio. She studied photography and film making at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she first learned Cyanotype printing (Sun Prints). During the week, you can stop by Olivia Phare studio to shop art, see what Olivia is working on, or make a quick Sun Print for yourself.
