Learn best practices for responding to disasters. Receive UMCOR certification upon successful completion of training & background check. Early Response Team (ERT) Basic Training  |  9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Learn best practices for responding to disaster situations. Training includes how to interact with survivors, help survivors recover belongings, tarp roofs, safely remove debris and more. Background checks are a requirement for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) credentialing. This can also be taken for your 3 year recertification. The cost of the training is the same, the basic class just lasts a little longer than a recertification class.    This class will be led by UMCOR certified trainer Michael Woodward. Lunch will be provided. We will follow the COVID-19 masking guidelines set by Chardon UMC which will be communicated closer to the event. Cost is $25.00 (includes class materials, food, t-shirt and the cost of the UMCOR background check). When registering, please be sure to use your LEGAL NAME, no nicknames. This is requirement to do the UMCOR background check.  Upon successful completion of the training and background check, you will get your UMCOR ERT badge, which is good for 3 years.
