Windsor Oaks Vineyards is seeking a Harvest Vineyard Member who wants learn the business and see how to manage a vineyard as part of our Harvest Team. We are a large estate vineyard located in Sonoma County that grows ultra-premium wine grapes for buyers across the country. The position will begin in August and continue through harvest. We request a commitment to working full-time until harvest is complete. The completion of harvest can range from mid-October to November. Depending on your experience & skills these duties may consist of grape maturity sampling, fruit quality management, harvest crew support, maintaining records, some analysis, and presentation of our harvest results. We are not looking for grape pickers; we are looking for the team members that support the grape pickers and interact with our clients, the grape buyers. Experience: Basic knowledge of wine grape production, viticulture or horticulture is a plus. However, a strong interest in viticulture and the harvest season is welcomed. Mechanical aptitude is helpful as are Spanish language skills. We provide training for all vineyard and harvest related tasks. Duties and Responsibilities: We work as Team. A person in this person in this position will share duties depending aptitude. It a comprehensive harvest position with exposure to many aspects of vineyard management, viticulture scouting, harvest duties, and communicating with clients and management that may including: • Grape maturity sampling – collecting, processing, and recording the brix of mature fruit • Harvest crew support – monitoring fruit quality, recording notes on fruit tonnage and acres harvested, • Assisting with weighmaster, scale operations, and loading fruit on the crush pad during harvest • Assisting in the tracking of our own and the client’s bins for picking and delivery • Purchasing and setting up “tailgate” Breakfast for the workers in the field • Winery client services – assisting our Grape Sales Manager with in communication with buyers • Assisting maintaining a customer database and filing of documents and materials • Assisting in creating daily pick plans for the timing of harvests and informational details on clients • Analyzing logistics multiple deliveries. • A harvest team commitment from August through October, possibly November Qualifications: • Self-Directed, efficient, highly motivated, and can follow directions • Works well within a team and is confident in working alone • Must be highly organized and maintain accurate attention to detail • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and can quickly change tasks • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is not a requirement but a plus • Ability to work flexible and extended hours on short notice • Must be punctual to all viticultural and harvest commitments • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk on uneven surfaces • Basic Spanish communication skills is a plus • Valid driver’s license with good driving record – as determined by our insurance carrier. • Must have legal work status Work Environment: • May sit, stand, and walk on uneven surfaces for an extended period of time • Working in a multi-lingual team environment • Will be working mostly outside and must be able to endure the highs and lows of temperature changes Principals only.
