ROUND ROCK, TX — In a span of a decade, Round Rock has seen a population increase of 19.6 percent, according to the 2020 Census released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday.
The census reports Round Rock's population was recorded at 119,468, which is an almost 20 percent increase since its last recorded population at 99,887.
Thursday's release of the census revealed changes in the size and distribution of the population across the United States.
The population of U.S. metro areas grew by 9 percent from 2010 to 2020, resulting in 86 percent of the population living in U.S. metro areas in 2020, compared to 85 percent in 2010, census data reports.
City officials said the redistricting data provides a new baseline for the City of Round Rock's monthly and annual population estimates and projections, which are used to inform decisions regarding City programs and services.
Round Rock officials said they will continue to analyze the data in the coming weeks and create user-friendly breakdowns of the data for the Round Rock 2030 Comprehensive Plan website.
