Press release from the City of Johnston: August 17, 2021 Nationally, October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Firefighters across the nation have supported this cause for many years, including the Johnston-Grimes firefighters. Your Johnston-Grimes Local 4835 firefighters are taking pre-sale orders for the October Breast Cancer t-shirt fundraiser! The order deadline is Monday, Aug. 23, 2021. Every year, the funds raised are given to a local Grimes or Johnston resident who has survived or is currently battling breast cancer and used for whatever they see fit, whether groceries, bills, or even a family vacation.
