Jersey City's Master Plan Re-Evaluates Newport Mall

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City's Newport Center Mall could be fading out of the city's plans. Drafts of the Jersey City master plan show the possibility of the mall being turned into a mixed-use lot to make way for residential buildings, green space and commercial buildings to open the plot up for access to the waterfront. A showcase of the Jersey City Master plan is scheduled for Sept. 15. The Master Plan includes re-envisioning the Newport Mall area as well as the Hudson Mall and Stadium Plaza, according to NJ.com.
