The $3.5 million park incorporates the legacy of Mary McLeod Bethune and is located at 141 MLK Drive. The park has been in the making for decades and the park will be open to the public and widely utilized by neighborhood residents as well as the Bethune Community Center across the street and the surrounding Jackson Hill business district.
The new park features a stage for live performances and community events, amphitheater seating, an area for vending and outdoor markets, a playground, fitness bars, and passive seating areas.
The entire park design process was planned with the help of the community, Jackson Hill Special Improvement District and City Council members directly involved.
