OSWEGO, IL — Oswego's newest patrol officer is now officially on the force after he was sworn in during Tuesday night's Village Board meeting.
Thomas Samansky, 28, transferred to Oswego after serving in the Chicago Police Department for just under four years. Samansky attended St. Laurence High School in Burbank and is a graduate of St. Ambrose University, Chief of Police Jeff Burgner said.
Samansky was sworn in at the start of the meeting, and the ceremony was attended by his mother, Elaine; fiancee, Mackenzie; and brother, William.
Samansky and Mackenzie are planning to get married next year, Burgner said, and Samansky is a fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox.
"We're extremely excited to have you out here, and we appreciate you wanting to come out and work in Oswego," Burgner said to Samansky after administering the oath. "We look forward to a long and prosperous career in the Oswego Police Department."
