NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Township police are asking for help to identify a woman suspected of using a resident's stolen driver's license to commit fraud at several banks in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Newtown Township Police Department recently released surveillance photos of the woman, who they say was wearing a blond wig to look more like the resident whose identity she was using. The resident's license was stolen March 23 from a vehicle at Veterans Park and used in July at several TD Bank locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, police said, calling it a "Felony Lane Gang" style fraud. The Felony Lane Gang is a well-known group that originated in Florida a decade ago. It targets women across the country, stealing their purses and using their IDs and credit cards to commit other crimes, like cashing bogus checks or going on shopping sprees with stolen credit cards, according to the FBI. The surveillance photos show the woman has distinctive tattoos on her fingers and wrist. Police are asking anyone with information about her identity to call Detective Corporal Daniel Bartle at 215-579-1000, extension 288; email [email protected]; or submit a tip online.
