TWIN CITIES, MN — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison won relief for brides who he said were "jilted" by two wedding dress stores in Hopkins; Posh Bridal Couture and m. Elizabeth Bridal.
The two shops told buyers to expect gowns in six months or less, but they often failed to deliver on that promise, according to Ellison. The stores must pay $50,000 in restitution.
"You should always get what you pay for when you pay for it," Ellison said in a news release.
"The days leading up to your wedding day should be filled with joy and excitement, not dread and anxiety about whether you'll have something to wear down the aisle."
Brides reported receiving their dress only days before their wedding, which led to rush alteration fees or brides needing backup dresses, investigators said.
The delays were a result of the stores' failure to pay the gown manufacturers, according to Ellison
