UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 90-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a car Tuesday night as she attempted to cross Amsterdam Avenue and West 74th Street, said the New York Police Department. Officers arrived at the Upper West Side scene around 8:10 p.m. to find the woman lying on the road with head trauma, police said. The 90-year-old was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where she is in critical condition as of Wednesday morning. A subsequent investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that the woman was attempting to cross Amsterdam Avenue on West 74th Street from east to west when she was struck by an Infiniti QX 60 sedan driven by a 44-year-old man. The man was turning from eastbound West 74th Street onto the uptown traveling Amsterdam Avenue, police said. The driver remained on the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing. The collision on Tuesday night happened four blocks away from where 71-year-old Hing Chung was hit and killed on Amsterdam by an E-bike at the end of April.
