$3K GreyStone Scholarships Awarded To Five Area Students

GEORGIA — Five students in GreyStone Power's service area — one from Douglas County and four from Paulding County — were awarded scholarships funded by customers who rounded up their bills. Winners of the $3,000 Operation Round Up Scholarships are: Sammi Zhu, graduate of Douglas County High School, attending Harvard University to study medicineChristina Bae, graduate of Paulding County High School, will attend Georgia Tech and study biochemistryZachary Davis, graduate of East Paulding High School, will attend the University of West Georgia and study psychologyKamari Dumas, graduate of East Paulding High School, will attend Georgia State University and study nursingEric Okanume of Hiram, a sophomore at University of Georgia Honors College studying biological sciences The scholarships are given based on academic performance as well as school and community activities and are made possible by GreyStone members who agree to round up their electric bills to the next dollar. "We are so grateful to our 27,000 members who contribute to Operation Round Up, the foundation's fundraising program, so that we can recognize worthy students such as these, as well as help those who need help in our community," said Marcus Carter, board chairman of the GreyStone Power Foundation.
