Basic Pet care and Common Sense

I often see dogs riding in cars and hanging their head out of the window. Although this looks adorable, after working at a veterinarian hospital for 10 years I have seen horrible injuries to the dogs. As a human- try hanging your head out of a car/truck window going 50-60 miles an hour and see what hits your face and gets into your eyes. I have seen dogs hit by flying objects on the road (as this happens often) metal, wood, nails that caused permanent injuries or death. Eyes that were injured from the wind, just regular road sand that caused eye loss or ulcerations. Before you let your animal do something so reckless, try it yourself or ask.....would I let my child do that? It's not that hard to be an animal parent but you do have to use common sense.
