I have been taking care of a German Shepherd for the past two months. She was given as a gift to someone in December of 2018. The dog owner is a young man who has been through a great deal of trials, and this dog has been a great help to him. Unfortunately, he had to move and is not in a position of taking care of her. I am really not in a position to care for her either. Not long-term. He is desperate to keep the dog, and does not want me to get rid of her. The problem is, he really doesn't know how to properly raise her. I'm at a crossroad not knowing what to do. I believe the best outcome for the dog is to re-home her. I also believe the best outcome for the owner is to keep her. She is currently staying at a home indoors and mostly alone. I have, however, decided to stay the nights at the house so she does not feel abandoned. I've also been feeding her the best dog food available. I'm not even sure what I'm hoping to accomplish with this ad, but if anyone is willing to watch over this dog, I am willing to pay to house and feed her. She really would benefit from being around other people and other animals. It's a tricky situation, and I can certainly go into more details to anyone interested in knowing more. I really hope the owner will understand that the best outcome is for him to allow her to live elsewhere, but how can one be convinced of this? I'm hopeful perhaps someone can offer me some good advice for this situation, or just talk some sense into me.
