Description
5 Year Old African Grey History: I have had my African Grey for a little over 5 years now. I purchased her from a pet store in Orange County (California) as a baby. I had her shipped to New Jersey about 10 months ago to a family member due to my living situation that wouldn't allow me to bring my custom aviary. Anyway, I had full intention on keeping my bird until a series of unfortunate events occurred that brought me back to NJ myself and in a situation where I cannot give my bird the proper care and love she needs. I pains me to write this but I have to do what is best for the bird so she can live her life with someone who can. Details: Name: Pivo aka "Bird" Gender: Assuming female based off feather patterns on tail and pet shop I purchase from agrees with me (Omars Exotic Birds) Vocabulary: She is well versed in many phrases, words, sounds, local birds, and other random things she hears. She says many pets names that she has been around. She has a wonderful laugh that will leave you cracking up for hours. She does pick up words and phrases fairly quickly. She will ask for things like water or say hungry. She will even say "cheezit" (my ex taught her that) I should note.. she does know two curse words. One she only says when a certain family member is around (has not been around for 2 years now. lol) And the other she will call you the "F" word on occasion. Be warned. I should note that it will take her some time to warm up to you before she starts talking. Once she's comfy she will open up and start speaking. She also beat-boxes too! Playfulness: She loves to hangout. Loves to be flipped upside down. She will play peekaboo with you. Another note, please don't expect this behavior right away. She needs time to trust you and get to know you. She will sense fear and nervousness. This is not your ordinary parakeet. It takes patience with these types of birds. Favorite Foods: Pistachios (unsalted), cashews, bananas, apples, grapes, starflower seeds, and almonds. She does eat others but these are what I noticed she gravitates towards. Also, if you are unfamiliar with these birds please do not feed Avocados to African Grey. Current State: These types of birds are very susceptible to plucking. BUT this is normal. I have had her for over 5 years and she has plucked most of her life and she has had a clean bill of health every time I have taken her to the vet. Also, before I had her shipped to Jersey she was living in the aviary I had built and she had all of her feathers regrown. I will provide you pictures. That said her minor plucking she has right now can be reversed but she is still an active young bird. Just needs the extra time I do not have to help her in the right direction. Rehoming/Adoption Fee: $2,850 I do have cage, air carrier, and several types of feeders/water dishes. We can add this to the rehoming/adoption fee if you are interested. Note: NO BREEDERS. I would not recommend this type of bird for first time bird owners. PS - I dont know why my images are coming out all weird. Sorry about that. ALSO - to whom ever is flagging my posting please stop. This is in accordance to the CL TOS. Please stop and have a nice day. Thank you. -Bryan
