Seeking Prog Metal Guitar and Vocalist

Meets

Woodlyn PA

Description

Established Philadelphia based progressive rock/metal band is reforming post COVID and is seeking a lead guitarist and lead vocalist to complete the lineup (currently consists of rhythm/lead guitar, drums, bass, and keys). The band is signed, endorsed, has toured with major acts, released (3) albums, (2) singles and a video during their 20+ year lifespan. Seeking individuals that are of professional caliber, yet level-headed/responsible enough understand the importance of family life. With the reformation we are interested in pursuing new direction but still keeping elements that are melodic, heavily doomish, breathable and spacey yet technical, and last but not least, accessibly enjoyable for the non-technical listener. A very few of our influences are as follows: Paradise Lost, Intronaut, Tool, Korn, My Dying Bride, Solitude Aeturnus, Opeth, Trouble, Black Sabbath, Khemmis, Illdisposed, Hypocrisy, Pallbearer, Labyrinth, Mike Wead, Vinnie Moore, King Diamond, Nevermore, Iced Earth, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Katatonia, Persefone, Porcupine Tree, Evergrey, Dio, The Skull, Fates Warning, and Arcturus. We are all seasoned musicians (should it matter, we’re in our late 40’s to mid-50’s) but please understand that our music is not a main source of income for any of the members. Currently, this is for serious fun and we typically invest our earnings into the band, with hopes of eventually taking advantage of whatever comes our way. We also have a rehearsal studio that we rent for which would eventually ask for you to contribute if you take the position. With all that said, we are looking for some decent individuals that are easy to work with and have a desire to better themselves as musicians (over-inflated egos need not apply). We are NOT party or dance band that does covers. We write and perform our own original material for which would like a collective input for all members. For the right person this is a great opportunity to walk into and better your own playing ability, gain experience working with some talented individuals, and have fun hanging with some great people. We also have a plethora of contacts that are well known in the industry. General requirements are as follows: 1. Please show up when you say you are (be reliable) 2. Please have reliable transportation and be within a reasonable distance from downtown Philly. 3. Please be willing to travel occasionally out of state (usually weekends) 4. Please keep any drug or alcohol issues out of band time 5. Please have a means of income to support your equipment maintenance and share of the studio space rent. 6. Please be available to rehearse up to (2) nights a week (currently Thursdays and/or Sundays) 7. Please be at least 21 years of age and the ability to obtain a passport (if needed). Specific guitarist requirements are as follows: 1. Please possess your own reliable 7-string guitar(s) for which you are willing to set tuning for all strings down a whole step (e.g. D standard with the low B tuned to A). 2. Please possess your own reliable professional grade amplifier. 3. Please be willing to learn the existing material and come to rehearsal prepared. 4. Please have some stage experience under your belt. 5. Please have some basic theory knowledge for purposes communicating with others. There are counterpoint melodies sometimes involved between the other guitar, keys and bass. 6. Please be willing to contribute to the song writing process. Specific lead vocalist requirements are as follows: 1. Please be able to sing in key with good vocal control. Someone with a tenor range singing voice but the ability to also be willing to occasionally perform more guttural metal vocal work. 2. Please be willing to learn the existing material and arrive at rehearsal prepared. 3. Please have some sense of stage presence. 4. Please have a sense of equality in contribution to the band (Sorry, no one suffering from lead singer disorder). Essentially be a team player. 5. Please be willing to contribute to the lyrical writing process. Our promise to you: 1. Treat you with mutual respect by not wasting your time. 2. Work with you patiently while learning existing material. 3. Communicate with you and help you grow as a musician. Opportunity to good to be true? Nope. Please re-read our requirements above. Let us know if you think you might be a good fit and tell us a little about yourself. If we think you might be a good fit, we can set up an in-person meeting to discuss who we are, our existing material, and our musical direction moving forward. We’ve already had some good prospects, but are still looking for the right fit. Hopefully, it’s you! Thanks for your time and consideration.
