Plant Maintenance Mechanic Water Management, Plant Engineering & Maintenance Division Job Grade B22; hiring range $43,302.00 - $46,824.00 Water Management seeks an experienced mechanic with working knowledge of water treatment and reclamation facilities or power plant systems and equipment. Use your expertise and skills to help our congenial team provide corrective maintenance & response to equipment failures or malfunctions at the water & wastewater plants, isolating the cause, and overhaul as needed using specifications provided. Work assignments range from calibrations and minor adjustments to repair and overhaul of equipment. Plant crews also serve as backup mechanics to our 60+ sewer pump stations as needed and will be required to rotate and serve stand-by/recall for emergencies often during inclement weather. Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent • Within 9 months: B-CDL w/Tanker endorsement • 3 years of related experience • Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints, written and oral instructions • Extensive use and knowledge of OSHA safety especially Lock-out/Tag-out • Will be expected to [learn how to] operate equipment such as the “Camel” truck & forklift Preferred: • NC Grade 1 Wastewater Collections • AWWA Maintenance Technologist I; required within 2 years of hire • Welding, OSHA Confined Space, and/or Forklift • Skilled in welding practices (stick, TIG, MIG, and use of torch) • Machine shop experience using lathe`s, milling machines, etc. Generous benefits include 401(k), retirement, retirement health savings account, medical, dental, vision, generous holiday & annual leave plus other available/optional benefits.
