Job Purpose The Truck Driver is responsible for driving the truck to and from job sites and from pole to pole while on a job site, performing ground work during downtime. This position supports the Line team and works with personnel within the department. Essential Functions 1. Drive the truck to and from the job site as well as from pole to pole safely. 2. Perform all groundwork, making up materials for Linemen. 3. Prepare safe work zones with the use of signs, cones, etc. 4. Assist in the training of new ground help and truck drivers. 5. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Minimum Qualifications 1. A High School Diploma, or equivalent. 2. A CDL Class A License. 3. Comprehensive understanding of safe and compliant motor vehicle operation. 4. Ability to back trailers and drive straight shift trucks. 5. Ability to judge distance and space relationships. Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. All applicants must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
