A multidisciplinary artistic experience that offers inspiration, as well as promotes hope and healing
Second Fridays is back...at The Silk Tent!
Karen Smith of Sistahs Laying Down Hands and Debra Powell-Wright of Philly Jawns is bringing an indoor/outdoor cultural experience to Lancaster Avenue every month this summer.
Community members are invited to take a trip inside The Learning Tree for activities including percussion, poetry, dance and crafts that speak to the theme of “Heartbeat & Healing".
Stop by or bring a chair and stay awhile to vibe with the healing energy of Sistahs Laying Down Hands.
The Learning Tree is one of 5, Everyday Places Artist Partnerships, a 6-month series of creative community projects presented by social impact artists in collaboration with neighborhood businesses/organizations in West Philly.
ABOUT EVERYDAY PLACES ARTIST PARTNERSHIPS
Barnes West, a partnership between the Barnes Foundation and LoLa 38, developed Everyday Places Artist Partnerships to provide West Philadelphia residents with spaces to engage with creative projects that offer inspiration and promote hope and healing.
Social impact artists have partnered with neighborhood businesses and sites to build interactive, participatory projects that engage both the site and local residents. For more details visit our website: https://www.pec-cares.org/barneswest.html
