Description

An ongoing speaker series featuring local design industry leaders and disruptors - they're here to spill the Tea. theTEA: TrailblazersFor this session of the Tea, we'll be discussing Trailblazers - the new generation of industry leaders and how they got there. The panel for this discussion will include Brent Osaka and Mei-Ling Krabbe. Our panel will be discussing how they entered the industry, the roadblocks that they faced, and how they have continued to trailblaze despite the obstacles that they have faced. Join us outside on the patio at the Officescapes Market Street location for our very first in-person fireside chat since the pandemic started. Seating will be limited so that all attendees feel comfortable and can socially distance if needed. Both IIDA RMC members and nonmembers are encouraged to join, engage, interact, and connect with each other and with our guest speakers - during and after our events. We aim to create an environment that is welcoming for all, and that fosters individual and group connections, to build an inclusive and supportive design community. 2) Provide a fun and casual avenue for discussing some of the complex issues we face in today's building design & construction industry. We know that "spilling the Tea" is a playful phrase, and this is intentional. While many of the topics we plan to cover are complex and nuanced, we hope that by providing this avenue for discussion, and keeping it fun and casual, we can normalize these sometimes tough conversations - creating space for positive change. We don't presume to have the answers... but we hope that by asking the questions, we are taking a step in the right direction. The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) works to enhance quality of life through excellence in interior design and to advance interior design through knowledge, value and community. IIDA is a professional networking and educational association of 13,000 members in 29 Chapters and 58 countries around the world.
