This is our very popular 3-day workshop where mental health professionals will have hands -on learning to implement animal assisted therapy. Our 3-Day Intensive Training in Animal Assisted Therapy is as popular as ever. Students come from all over the world to learn with professionals who work every day helping clients with the assistance of their many therapy animals. This is a highly experiential workshop where participants will be working with 9 different species of animals. The emphasis is on mental health counseling and psychotherapy but professionals and students from many different disciplines in human services have found the workshop very helpful. COVID VIRUS INFORMATION: All AATPC staff will have been duly vaccinated. However, we will still follow CDC guidelines for small group gatherings, including requiring face masks be worn at all times and daily temperature checks. Anyone who is ill will be requested to postpone their involvement until the next scheduled Intensive.  Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado operates a nonprofit counseling program at its 3 1/2 acre Barking C.A.AA.T. Ranch (Center for Animal Assisted Therapy) in Arvada, CO. Their professional counselors treat mental health clients of all ages and there are programs available for people of all income levels, including Mazey's Dream, a low fee counseling program for those with incomes under $40,000/year. AATPC also operates one of the largest and oldest training and certification programs for professionals in the mental health field learning the specialty of animal assisted psychotherapy. AATPC also offers frequent, free, and by-donation events in subjects of interest to community members.
