Description

Xena is a 4-5 month old Great Pyrenees cross. We were told that she is a mix of 4 different Gaurdian dogs. The good: She is incredibly intelligent and really wants to please. She's super sweet, so much so that the camera-man had to retreat to outside of her kennel to get decent photos! She loves people and other dogs and will be great for guarding large livestock and protect a family. The bad: she's a chicken killer. She has a very high prey drive for small jumpy critters. So far, just chicks. The story: My 14 year old decided he was ready to up his responsibility and we are in need of a flock guardian. He was told this dog would be perfect for him and so he began gentle training. Gentle as in, slow going and easing into more and more time. What he wasn't prepared for... Was undoing and retraining after some less than savory behaviors had been set in. This pup spent a significant amount of time kenneled, with 2 other pups (wolf dogs) of the same age bracket. Learning from each other that chasing chickens is fun. Hense her 8x8 kennel. Which for another 250, can be yours as well. My son is ill-equipped for the training that she needs in order to be a flock protector. Because of the long term effects of her previous lifestyle, she is just not the dog for us. As sweet as she is and with how much potential she has, she will make a wonderful dog for someone. And if you are interested, we are looking to rehome her to the perfect home. With a rehoming fee of $250. Which my son will be taking a serious hit on. Lessons are being learned. Serious inquiries only please.
