Black Joy Hour: In Our Mothers' Gardens Film Screening It's your last chance to register to attend the Black Is Brilliant Summit Black Joy Hour & Film Screening (In Our Mothers' Gardens). Outdoor music, drinks, snacks, film screening. Free rapid covid testing at the door for all attendees. Seating is limited! On Friday, August 20th, you're invited to a Black Joy Hour to kick off the 2021 Black Is Brilliant Summit presented by BE NOLA. This event features a happy hour and outdoor film screening of the documentary, “In Our Mothers’ Gardens” directed by New Orleans’s own, Shantrelle P. Lewis. Lewis recently joined Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY. This will be an evening to share, socialize, network, and give and receive joy. PLEASE NOTE: To ensure the health and safety of all participants, a negative COVID test will be required for entry regardless of vaccination status and masking is required. Free rapid COVID tests will be administered on site. Only participants with a negative on-site COVID test will be allowed to enter and must adhere to all BE NOLA, local, state, and federal COVID guidelines. Black Education For New Orleans (BENOLA) is a Black-governed, Black-led nonprofit organization whose mission is to support Black educators and Black-governed, Black-led schools to ensure an education that creates better outcomes and opportunities for Black children in New Orleans as a critical factor in building a thriving Black community that is politically, economically and socially strong.
