Description

Cap is an adorable little handful who is about two and a half years old. He is one of the most energetic dogs we have ever encountered, with just as much love as he has energy. He has lived with us and our cat in our small apartment for a little under a year now, and this space just isn’t enough for a dog with his level of physical needs. We take him on daily walks and runs, but he would do best in a home with a fenced yard and a lot of space for him to run and play. As we will be downsizing into an even smaller apartment, we feel that it is best for him to find a home with adequate space. He wants nothing more than to be included in everything you do and will follow you around better than your own shadow. We have done some group obedience classes with him and he knows basic commands and tricks (sit, stay, lay down, spin, shake, etc..), but whether he chooses to listen when you don’t have a treat in your hand is a different story. He can be quite stubborn sometimes, but with a character as large as his, some attitude is bound to make an appearance. What he lacks in obedience, however, he more than makes up for in love. He snorts like a pig when he’s happy, and he’s happiest when he’s with you. Cuddles and kisses are two of his favorite things, and don’t expect to sit or lay down by yourself without him joining you and getting as close as humanly possible. Due to his high energy levels and what we think may have been poor socialization as a puppy, Cap is a very mouthy and aggressive player. We attempted to take him to the dog park for a while, but soon learned that Cap does much better with 1 on 1 playdates. He loves other dogs, but he would do best in a home where he is the only dog, or there is a large, mellow dog that doesn’t mind rough playing. He has a strong prey drive and has never hurt our cat, but does chase after her whenever she runs, so due to this and his mouthiness, would also be best in a home without small dogs, cats, or small children. On the days that we take him on multiple runs/walks and stimulate his mind just as much as his body, he has never given us any hard times. That is why we are searching for a new home with lots of land and room for this energetic boy to be as wild and free as he pleases. He is neutered and up to date on all shots. He will come with a crate, a dog bed, harness and leash, and all of his favorite toys/bones. Rehoming fee is $50, and we live in North Austin.
