Description

Help restore native plants and animals to Medea Creek The non-profit community-led group will be restoring native plant species to the oak woodland and streamside vegetation along Medea Creek between the duck pond and the dog park in Oak Canyon. The kickoff event will also focus on removing the non-native species in the creek, so that the native plants can grow in their place and provide food and shelter for wildlife. Many animals do not recognize the non-native plants, and local biologists and volunteers will work together to remove pampas grass, horehound, small palm trees and other invasive plants. Friends of Oak Park Open Space is dedicated to connecting people with the Oak Park, Ventura County natural resource lands. We encourage positive impacts to these special places by caring for the native plants and animals so we all have a place to thrive.
