SALEM, MA — Beverly and Salem residents are invited to clean out their garages, sheds and basements of hazardous waste materials at a discount price during the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday at Salem High School. Residents of both cities can drop off items for a $20 fee per vehicle at the Wilson Street location. The fee must be made in cash and proof of residency is required. Residents of other communities can drop off items from 11 a.m. to noon. They are invited to call the Salem Board of Health for individual item pricing. Drive-up COVID-19 testing at Salem High School will not take place on that day due to the drop-off taking place. No commercial vehicles will be allowed. Items accepted include motor oil, chemicals, pesticides, batteries, propane cylinders and paint, and auto items such as gasoline, motor oil and transmission fluids. A full list of eligible items can be found here. Tires and latex paint should not be dropped off on this collection day. Residents are advised to air dry latex paint in cans and place it in the regular trash. For more information, call the Salem Board of Health at 978-741-1800. Did you find this article useful?
