Suffolk To Spray For Mosquitoes Starting Tuesday

DAVIS PARK, NY — Some Fire Island communities are scheduled to be treated for mosquitoes — weather permitting — starting on Tuesday, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works announced Monday. Davis Park and Point O'Woods' streets and boardwalks are expected to be treated on Tuesday with Anvil, in the form of an ultra-low volume aerosol during ground-spraying, officials said. This will be followed by Ocean Bay Park, Ocean Beach, and Seaview on Wednesday. Fire Island Pines, Water Island, Summer Club, and Atlantique will be treated on Thursday. The spraying will take place between 5:30 and 10 p.m. The county health department announced that nine mosquito samples, which were collected county-wide, tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
