PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A relatively-new tool from the city's Health Department lets New Yorkers explore how COVID-19 has impacted their neighborhood since the start of the pandemic. The tool, found on the city's coronavirus data page, creates a Neighborhood Data Profile for each ZIP code, revealing the latest transmission data along with historical statistics for the neighborhood's case count, death rate and vaccination numbers. In Park Slope, a picture of how the neighborhood has fared throughout the pandemic can be found by combining data from its two major ZIP codes, 11215 and 11217. (Keep up with NYC events and news by subscribing to Park Slope Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.) The data reveals that even in its position as one of the least hard-hit neighborhoods amid the pandemic (Park Slope has consistently had some of the lowest coronavirus rates in the borough and New York City), more than 7,000 Park Slopers have come down with the virus since the pandemic's start. That number means roughly one out of every 15 neighbors has had coronavirus at one point. More than 220 of those neighbors died from the virus, the data shows. Here's a more complete look at the data: 11215: Gowanus/Park Slope/Windsor Terrace Population: 69,624Cases: 4,113 — One out of every 16 people.Deaths: 95 — One out of every 732 people.People Vaccinated: 47,910 with at least one dose, 45,556 fully vaccinated.Case rate: 5,907.41 per 100,000 — Lower than Brooklyn's case rate of 11,604.19 and lower than New York City's case rate of 12048.06.Death rate: 136.45 per 100,000 — Lower than Brooklyn's death rate of 412.52 and lower than New York City's death rate of 403.76.Vaccination: (at least 1 dose) 68.81% — Higher than Brooklyn's vaccination rate of 55.26% and higher than New York City's vaccination rate of 62.58% 11217, 11243: Boerum Hill/Park Slope Population: 40,870Cases: 3,236 —One out of every 12 people.Deaths: 134 — One out of every 305 people.People Vaccinated: 27,335 with at least one dose, 25,583 fully vaccinated.Case rate: 7,917.65 per 100,000 — Lower than Brooklyn's case rate of 11,604.19 and lower than New York City's case rate of 12048.06.Death rate: 327.86 per 100,000 — Lower than Brooklyn's death rate of 412.52 and lower than New York City's death rate of 403.76.Vaccination: (at least 1 dose) 66.88% — Higher than Brooklyn's vaccination rate of 55.26% and higher than New York City's vaccination rate of 62.58%
