Description
WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Police Department announced officers will conduct a DUI checkpoint on September 4.
The police department did not say which road officers would be patrolling, or during what time period. The police department said the sobriety checkpoint will be minimally intrusive, and "is designed to identify and remove from the roadway those drivers who are impaired by alcohol and drugs."
Funding for the checkpoint comes from a State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety DUI Enforcement Grant.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 94 people died in alcohol-impaired vehicle crashes in 2019.
