Trumbull Health Department: Waiting On Coronavirus Booster Shots

TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Health Department expects to administer booster shots in the fight against the coronavirus, as soon as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends them, officials said. "The CDC does not currently recommend boosters for fully vaccinated individuals," Trumbull officials wrote on Facebook (see below). "Although boosters are not yet indicated, it is likely that the CDC will recommend them in the not-so-distant future." That does not mean there will be an immediate recommendation for the additional COVID-19 shot, but the department will continually monitor the situation. In the case of immunocompromised individuals, which represents a small percentage in the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration has approved booster shots for them, and the Trumbull department will administer those upon receiving guidance from the state Department of Public Health. Last week, First Selectman Vicki Tesoro announced she was not yet implementing a new mask mandate in town, as the delta variant of the virus continues to plague the state and the nation. She and health officials are continuing to monitor the situation.
