NORWALK, CT — Over 10,000 diapers were donated to families in need through the Family & Children's Agency's diaper drive.
According to a news release, diaper rash cream, wipes and funds to purchase more supplies were also collected. These supplies will be given directly to families in need through FCA's programs.
"The diaper drive is a show of support from the community to our youngest and most vulnerable neighbors," FCA president Robert Cashel said in a news release. "Thank you to those who contributed; this makes a real difference in the lives of families."
According to the agency, diapers can be a financial burden on families, especially after such a difficult year. Not being able to afford diapers is a leading cause of maternal depression, and one in three families in the U.S. struggles with diaper need.
The event is organized by FCA's Junior Board of Advisors, a group of young professionals dedicated to supporting the mission of the agency, and brings in thousands of diapers each year.
