All Inner Loop Lanes Reopen Near Tysons After Earlier Crash

Updated: 4:10 p.m. MCLEAN, VA — All travel lanes of northbound I-495 have reopened to traffic after being closed earlier in the afternoon due to a multi-vehicle crash near Lewinsville Road, according to a Twitter post from the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) Program. Just before 4 p.m., traffic was backed up for about 4 miles, with delays starting at I-66. Fairfax County Fire & Rescue units were on the scene around 3 p.m., of a multi-vehicle crash northbound on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway/ I-495 before Lewinsville Road, according to a post on the department's Twitter account. Two people were trapped in the crash, but rescue personnel were able to free them, according to the tweet. Two people had minor injuries, while a third suffered significant injuries. All three were transported to an area hospital for treatment. A Virginia Department of Transportation camera showed traffic getting by slowly at 4:10 p.m. FINAL: Multi-Vehicle Crash.
