GREENWICH, CT — With the emergence of the COVID-19 delta variant, Greenwich Wine + Food has postponed its 10th anniversary celebration to spring 2022.
The week-long event was slated for Sept. 28 through Oct. 3, 2021, with core events taking place at The Village in Stamford. Beneficiaries of the event included the Jacques Pépin Foundation (JPF) and Wholesome Wave, two non-profit organizations with roots in Connecticut.
"With the uptick in COVID cases and the growing concerns for our community, it is with a very heavy heart that we have decided to postpone the larger Anniversary Celebration until spring 2022," said Greenwich Wine + Food CEO and founder Suni Unger in an announcement Monday morning.
"In reviewing the goals and expectations of GWF events, coupled with the collaborative nature of our celebration, and new COVID restrictions, we are unable to deliver a safe, fun and secure event for our guests traveling from various towns and states to attend. A cornerstone of GWF is bringing our guests exclusive experiences with some of their favorite icons in the culinary and music industries. As our fans and partners began to express uncertainty about how this culinary celebration would work with cases of the Delta variant on the rise, we realized they simply don't. As a community event aiming to lift-up those in need, we will continue to explore ways we can continue to shine a light on our culinary partners and our co-beneficiaries' missions while raising vital funds in the coming weeks and months."
