Description

BURKE, VA — Rescue dogs will be on hand at an upcoming Burke adoption event in hope of finding their forever homes. Virginia German Shepherd Rescue, a volunteer-run nonprofit founded in 2001, hosts adoption events in Burke and other Virginia locations. The nonprofit focused on rescuing German Shepherd dogs and occasionally mixes and other breeds that are left in shelters with an uncertain future, surrendered by owners, or were abused or neglected. Dogs typically go to homes in Virginia and the DC metropolitan area. The next event will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Petco, 9230 Old Keene Mill Road. Anyone can stop by to learn about Virginia German Shepherd Rescue, how to support rescue dogs, how to volunteer and meet adoptable dogs. Currently, the rescue is in need of foster families to host dogs and financial support due to veterinary care costs. At least three adoptable dogs will attend the Burke event: Angel, Estrella and Max.
