Description

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Hundreds of unemployment insurance fraud claims have been filed through the Howard County Police Department financial crimes unit's online reporting system (Coplogic). The police department noted that it continues to investigate those claims, but it needs personal information in order to further investigate identity theft. In order to track a claim, the Maryland State Department of Labor requires certain information to be provided. Individuals who did not include their personal information will be receiving an email from the police department with instructions on how to proceed, how to include contact information for the investigating detective and how to provide information directly to a uniformed police officer if preferred. Do not call 911 to provide the requested information, the department noted. Anyone with questions can contact the financial crimes unit at 410-313-3200.
