PRINCETON, NJ — With most of New Jersey counties experiencing either "high" or "substantial" spread of COVID-19, Princeton is seeing an uptick in cases. In the past seven days, 17 people tested positive for COVID-19 with total cases in the past few days being 29, the township's health Department reported on Monday. As of Monday, Aug. 16, 688 individuals have completed their isolation with 10,588 receiving negative test results. All of New Jersey is now experiencing a "high" or "substantial" spread of coronavirus, according to the latest data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The rest of the state is experiencing a high spread of the virus. This is according to the most recent data available, which is last week's data from Aug. 8 - Aug. 14, said the CDC. The highly transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 is driving case rates higher in the United States. Princeton's health authorities said that vaccination is still the "best path to ending the COVID-19 pandemic." Princeton's overall vaccination rate of those 12 years and older is 77 percent, according to recent data. "The more people that get vaccinated in the community, the less severe complications from the disease will be observed," the Health Department said in the newsletter.
