The incentive, which hasn't officially launched, is a way to encourage the community to get vaccinated as COVID-19 cases, particularly the highly contagious delta variant, continues to surge in the Austin Metro. The public health authority plans to announce a launch date of the program soon, officials said. As of Monday, there were 955 new coronavirus cases in Travis County. In total, there are 96,009 cases and 919 deaths in the county. About 2,583 cases remain active, according to Austin-Travis County's COVID-19 dashboard. There are 589 total hospitalizations in the Austin Metro, including 213 in the ICU and 134 on ventilators, the data reports. "The best incentive is to stay out of the hospital," APH tweeted.
