JOLIET, IL —A man who visited the Hollywood Casino Joliet in 2019 has hired a Naperville lawyer to file a personal injury lawsuit stemming from his tumble down a flight of stairs in one of the casino's shuttle buses that take people back and forth from the casino to the hotel. According to Cyril Tuzzollino's lawsuit against Hollywood Casino Joliet, he was seated in a courtesy shuttle mini bus on Aug. 3, 2019 that is operated by Hollywood Casino Joliet. That day, after riding in the mini-van, Tuzzollino "fell from the minivan when attempting to safely exit the minivan," states his attorney, Gerard Stocco of Naperville. The lawsuit accuses Hollywood Casino of carelessly and negligently failing to outfit the minivan with any manner of handle bars or hand ropes by which passengers can steady themselves when traveling into and out of the shuttle bus. The plaintiff also said that Hollywood Casino Joliet had carelessly and negligently failed to properly hire, train and supervise its agents in common carrier safety standards and in "carelessly and negligently failing to provide assistance to passengers while exiting the shuttle, especially in light of the absence of sufficient lighting, sufficient handle bars or straps, and other safety measures as aforesaid." Tuzzollino tripped during his tumble, he hit his left shoulder on the door frame during his fall, "and falling from the van down to the driveway, thereby suffering great injury, his body being bruised and hurt, and becoming injured, sore and disabled," his lawsuit states. Tuzzollino's lawyer has asked a Will County judge to issue a judgment in his client's favor in excess of $50,000, plus the costs for filing the lawsuit. So far, lawyers representing Hollywood Casino Joliet have yet to file their response to last week's lawsuit.
