DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The BBQ Bolt Run/Walk will return to Downers Grove's McCullom Park on Aug. 28 to help raise money for the South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation(SEASPAR).
This year's event will also feature a virtual race for runners and walkers who do not want to participate in person. Stick around after the race to enjoy a BBQ lunch (vegetarian options will be available) and refreshments.
Participants can choose a 5K or 1-mile option and can register as a single runner or in a group. Those who register as a group of four or more will get a $5 registration discount per person.
Racers will receive a medal and a participant's T-shirt. Awards will be given out in the 5K race for the top three people racing in the male and female categories in each age group. Age groups are as follows: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-plus.
Virtual participants can complete the 5K or 1-mile run or walk anytime between Aug. 21 and Aug. 29. After registering, virtual runners will get instructions on how to track their progress via the RunKeeper app. Participants can also email [email protected] to share images of themselves during their run.
Registration is $40 for the 5K run/walk and $35 for the 1-mile walk. The cost to participate virtually is $25 per person. Registration closes Aug. 26. Click the link to register for the 2021 BBQ Bolt Run/Walk.
