BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Park District has completed another leg of its pathway connection, having finished paving the path that runs along Lily Cache Creek. The newly-paved path begins at Drafke Park (1125 Quail Run) and runs along the Creek to Weber Road, the Bolingbrook Park District said on Facebook. The path will be complete with the upcoming installation this fall of a 62-foot bridge that will connect the paths over the creek to the Lily Cache Greenway Trail along Veterans Parkway, just east of Drafke Park, according to the District's Facebook page. An exact bridge completion date has not yet been reached, the District said. The paved path will further connect the regional pathway plan originally developed in 1989, the District said on its website. Bolingbrook residents approved the project in a 2018 referendum. With a 62 percent majority, the town voted to grant nearly $14 million in bonds over a 20-year period to complete the project and fund several other parks and facility improvements, Shaw Media reported in 2019.
